Welcome to a new and exciting school year! I will be your child’s third grade teacher this year. This will be year 13 for me as an elementary school teacher. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, my Master’s Degree in Reading, I am a certified Reading Specialist and I have my Supervision License. I also have my English as a Second Language certification and I am Orton - Gillingham certified.
My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, encouraging and nurturing environment for all of my students. I am excited for this new chapter and I am truly looking forward to an exciting school year ahead!
Home School Communication
Every so often, I will be sending home a “home school connection project.” This is a project that reflects what we are learning about in the classroom to be completed at home with the student’s family. This is important so everyone stays connected, involved and knowledgeable of what is happening in our classroom! It also encourages a united effort in helping one another grow and learn.
I encourage you to join me using the phone application ClassDojo. I will post photos from our classroom as well as classwork the students have completed. I will post updates, important dates and reminders for you here as well! It is a wonderful source of communication between the parent and teacher. You can send me messages during school hours which will remain private.
Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. I am a firm believer that in order for your child to be successful, you and I have to work as a team! Email: dnowen@notredameint.org
Specials Monday - Spanish Tuesday - Music Wednesday - Art & Gym Thursday - Library Friday - Gym
Homework Every Monday I send home a homework packet. The students are to keep this packet at home Monday-Thursday. It is due back to me on Fridays. Students have the entire week to complete their homework packet! These packets were carefully designed to meet every students' needs. They may choose to do 1 worksheet per night or 2-3. However they choose to do so and whatever works best for them is acceptable! I find that this homework procedure is successful simply because students may work at their own pace, every child has a different learning style.
